Car Hire and Road Travel

Dunkirk can be reached by road quickly and easily from a variety of destinations. From Lille, take the A25 and join with the A16 heading for Calais. Coming from Belgium on the A16, exit at junction 24 then follow signs for the ferry terminal. From Dunkirk city centre, follow signs for Calais then for the ferry terminal, while from St Omer take the D600 which crosses the A16 direct to the terminal.

Car hire is available in the city centre from local car rental companies; however, to secure cheaper rates and save yourself a lot of time it is recommended that you book your rental vehicle online prior to your arrival.

Trains and Rail Travel

A railway station in the city provides nationwide connections with journey times to Brussels of just 1 hour and 1 hour, 30 minutes to Paris. By high speed train to London, it's just 2 hours' travelling time.
